News release from the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority:

New rental car lot, terminal entrance create easier access at FWA

(October 8, 2014) – The Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority today marked the completion of a new rental car parking lot at Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA). Rental car customers can now enjoy easier access to and from the terminal building, including shelter from the elements. The new lot features covered parking on half of the spaces, as well as a covered walkway to the terminal building.

Other new features include a short-term parking lot entrance in front of the terminal building and a second long-term entrance north of the parking lot exit booth. A new entryway in front of the terminal also provides easy access to and from the parking lots.

“We are excited to provide the rental car operators at Fort Wayne International Airport a new parking lot with enhanced amenities for their customers,” stated Scott Hinderman, executive director of airports. “The new entrance not only provides a more attractive welcome to the airport but also creates easier access to and from the terminal.”

The Airport Authority’s engineer of record is Crawford, Murphy & Tilly. Brooks Construction served as the general contractor on the project.

The second phase of parking lot construction began October 6, which reconfigures the former car rental lots to accommodate a new taxi chute.
