News release from the United Way of Allen County:

United Way and Organized Labor Present the 22nd Annual Community Health Fair

(September 29, 2014) – United Way of Allen County and Organized Labor have scheduled their annual Community Health Fair for Friday, October 3, 2014, from 8 a.m. until noon at Turnstone, 3320 N. Clinton St. The 22nd Annual Community Health Fair is sponsored by United Way and Parkview Home Health & Hospice, everyone eighteen and older is invited to attend.

Free blood pressure, glucose and colorectal cancer screenings as well as hearing screenings will also be available. A blood chemistry test is also available for a $18 fee; this tests liver function, kidney function, cholesterol levels, high density lipoproteins (HDLs), low density lipoproteins (LDLs), triglycerides and more. Participants must fast 12 hours before the blood test. (If necessary, please take required medications.)
During the event, Parkview Home Health & Hospice will give flu shots for $25 and Pneumonia vaccines for $60. Anyone covered by Medicare Part B will not need to pay for these two injections. All insurance cards will be accepted.

Organizations such as Aging and In-Home Services, American Red Cross, Cancer Services, Community Transportation Network, The League for the Blind & Disabled, Mental Health America, Neighborhood Health Clinics and many more, will be on hand with information and will have health care professionals available to answer questions.
