News release from Fort4Fitness:

2014 Fort4Fitness Race Week Is Here!
Plenty of new and exciting things on the schedule for the 7th Annual Fort4Fitness Fall Festival

(September 23, 2014) – New challenges, new race start times, immediate race results and even a wedding on the race course highlight some of the new and exciting things happening at Fort4Fitness this weekend!

The Fort4Fitness Festival Expo will be held on Friday (9/26) at Parkview Field from 1 – 8 pm, and includes packet pick-up (which continues until 9 pm) and the finish of the Kids Marathon and Seniors Marathon, both starting at 6:30 pm. Saturday’s (9/27) races have new start times and get started with the 10K at 7:30 am, followed by the Half Marathon at 8:20 am, and the 4 Mile Run/Walk starts at 10:45 am. The new start times were in response to post-race participant surveys, and also allowed for the creation of the Triple Crown and Double Play.

The Triple Crown is the ultimate challenge Fort4Fitness has to offer. More than 25 people have registered for the Triple Crown, meaning they will run all three Fort4Fitness races, while more than 50 people have signed up for the Double Play, meaning they will run some combination of two out of our three races.

Participants will be able to get their race results immediately after crossing the finish line. Each race bib has a QR Code printed on it, and runners can scan their QR code to get their race results.

Saturday will be a very special day for two couples on the Fort4Fitness course as well. David Martin and Kim Yates of Fort Wayne will start the Half Marathon and run the first 7.5 miles before stopping in Foster Park to exchange wedding vows. Once they’ve said, “I Do,” they will begin their married life together by finishing the race and crossing the finish line at Parkview Field. Several members of the wedding party will also be running.

Another couple, Dan Lambert and Tess Markovich from Delta, OH will come to Fort Wayne with their pastor, wedding party, family and friends, and will run the 4 mile race before heading home to Ohio to get married later in the day.

Other unique runners at Fort4Fitness this year include two members of the military, Chris Edwards and Kelly Leugers, and one firefighter, Robb Gerken, who will all be running the half marathon wearing their full gear!

Final participant numbers will be available after registration closes.

A complete schedule of events along with course maps and road closure information may be found on the Fort4Fitness website.
