Judge Wendy Davis Named to Indiana Tech Board of Trustees
Allen Superior Court Chief Judge is first sitting judge appointed to the university’s board(September 9, 2014) – Allen Superior Court Chief Judge Wendy W. Davis has been named to the Board of Trustees of Indiana Tech. The Board’s primary responsibility is to support the university’s mission by general, academic, and financial policy making.
Trustees serve a three-year term and can be re-elected based on the recommendation of a committee. Judge Davis also serves as liaison between the Courts and the Indiana Tech law school in Fort Wayne.
“An important part of Indiana Tech’s mission is the promotion of diversity in and passion for the legal system,” said Judge Davis. “I know first-hand the importance of this work to assuring equal access to justice across Indiana and I am thrilled for the opportunity to help make it a reality.”
Judge Davis took the bench in 2011 and has served as Chief Judge since January 2014.
In addition to the Indiana Tech board, Judge Davis was also recently appointed by the Indiana Supreme Court as chair of the Indiana Judicial Probation Committee. Judge Davis also serves with Chief Justice Loretta Rush on the ICLEO (Indiana Continuing Legal Education Opportunity) Commission which promotes minorities to excel in law school and in the legal profession.
Prior to taking the bench, Judge Davis, a native of Allen County, was a partner at the law firm of Beckman, Lawson, LLP, specializing in federal litigation, and a part-time Allen County deputy prosecutor.
