The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir at the Cities and Towns conference

(September 4, 2014) – The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir performed for the opening ceremonies of the Indiana Cities and Towns Annual Conference, Tuesday at The Grand Wayne Convention Center. The performance featured the Youth Chorale, one of seven performing ensembles in the organization.

The Youth Chorale is comprised primarily of high school students and focuses on a breadth of repertoire ranging from early polyphony to modern choral works. Students gain high musical ability, all while developing valuable life skills such as self-confidence, team-building, and leadership.

The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is a music education based organization which places special attention to music instruction, literacy, and performance. The organization provides artistic and educational excellence to children from diverse backgrounds. This performance is part of our goal to contribute to the community’s cultural environment by providing opportunities to experience professionally trained voices. The ensembles of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir serve as ambassadors for the organization, and travel regionally, nationally and internationally to festivals and performances representing both the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir and our great city.

Jonathan Busarow, Artistic Director for the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, stated “The Fort Wayne Children’s Choir is excited to once again partner with the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns. The children’s choir prides itself on being the best at giving children from all backgrounds a voice. Studies have shown how students involved in the arts and music are more engaged citizens. Students in the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir will get to have a great role in starting the business meeting for the Indiana Association of Cities and Towns Conference. We are proud to represent Fort Wayne and the state of Indiana.”
