Cletus Goens, house organist at the Embassy Theatre, played the organ from noon to 4 pm as part of the Be A Tourist In Your Hometown event. The organ console will be taken out of the building on October 8th and moved to the Indianapolis firm of Carlton Smith Pipe Organ Restorations. The console will be gone approximately 8 months. The process will cost $68,000 which includes a $27,075 Limited Asset Improvement grant from the Foellinger Foundation.

We spoke with the Embassy Theatre’s executive director, Kelly Updike, about the restoration.

We also spoke with Cletus Goens and stuck around for three of his first three numbers, two of which are below for your listening pleasure.

A huge thanks to Kelly Updike, Barb Richards and of course Cletus Goens for allowing AroundFortWayne to cover this event!
