United Way Sets $4.9 Million Community Campaign Goal

(August 28, 2014) – Today at One Summit Square, the community came together to support United Way of Allen County as the 2014-2015 Community Campaign goal was announced. At a news conference, volunteer Campaign Chair Dent Johnson announced a goal of $4,900,000 and shared what supporting the annual campaign means to Allen County.

“I am excited about this year’s campaign,” said Dent Johnson, Fort Wayne BF Goodrich Plant manager. “We have a solid team and plan in place to help us reach and hopefully exceed the $4.9 million goal.”

Community members representing businesses, agency partners, foundations and schools donned LIVE UNITED shirts to show their support of United Way and Allen County. Following the news conference, attendees joined in the grand finale of Lunch on the Square to show their support of Fort Wayne and the improvements being made to Downtown.

United Way’s focus is on education, income, health and basic needs – the building blocks for a good quality of life. United Way’s Community Campaign supports several key initiatives as well as more than 60 programs at 34 agency partners.

“Even though our goal is for $4.9 million, the needs in our community far exceed that,” said Mark Coffee, United Way director of resource development. “This is going to be a tough year, but we owe it to our agency partners to try to meet as much of their needs as possible.”
