The Fort Wayne Fire Department celebrates its 175th anniversary with the Fort Wayne TinCaps tonight

WHAT: The Fort Wayne Fire Department Celebrates its 175th Anniversary with the TinCaps

WHERE: Parkview Field

WHEN: Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 7:05 pm

WHY: Tonight the TinCaps will not only host the West Michigan White Caps at Parkview Field, they help us celebrate our birthday with FWFD’s 175th Anniversary Night. This Thirsty Thursday and fireworks night game will recognize FWFD’s rich history in the Fort Wayne community with many activities during the game. More than 400 FWFD off duty members, family and friends will in attendance.

PLANNED ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

  • Fire and Police Pipe and Drum Corps. and Color Guard present flag
  • Fire Chief announces the “Fill the Boot” total and presents check to MDA
  • A very special guest throws out the first pitch
  • TinCaps team wears FD custom jersey (see below)
  • Silent auction of player jerseys: proceeds benefit the Fire Museum
  • Plastic fire department helmets handed to the children at entrance
  • Apparatus show and tell at ballpark entrance
  • Between inning competitions and activities related to fire service
  • Bad Apple Dancers perform in bunker gear
  • Special countdown to fireworks show
  • Meet Spotz the Dog (our mascot) and Freddy the Fire Truck
  • Onsite educational booth with FWFD Fire Prevention
  • A special commemorative gift will be presented to the FWFD on behalf of Parkview Emergency Services
