Hotel Fitness Championship announces two tournament week events for Fort Wayne families

(August 19, 2014) – The Western Golf Association, host of the 2014 Hotel Fitness Championship (Aug. 25-31) at Sycamore Hills Golf Club in Fort Wayne, announces today two new elements to tournament week activities.

New this year, the Hotel Fitness Championship will be hosting Hometown Team Day on Aug. 30 in partnership with the Fort Wayne TinCaps, Komets and Mad Ants. All fans wearing local professional team logos to the tournament that day (Hotel Fitness Championship gear included) will receive a free Hotel Fitness Championship program at the gate. There will be an autograph session with mascots from each team from 12:30-2 p.m.

The autograph signing will take place near the Lutheran Health Fan Village, a new fan-friendly area with multiple vendor booths. Organizations participating in the Fan Village include Community Harvest Food Bank, Lutheran Health Network, Eagle Classics sports memorabilia, Visit Fort Wayne and Hotel Fitness with a display of exercise equipment. Tournament merchandise will also be sold in the Fan Village, located near the practice putting green. Patrons are encouraged to visit daily as activities and giveaways will change regularly.

“We are excited to feature some fantastic organizations in our Lutheran Health Fan Village and add Hometown Team Day to our lineup of tournament week activities,” said Duke Butler IV, tournament director, on behalf of the WGA. “The theme day will bring the excitement of the diamond, rink and court to Sycamore Hills Golf Club and highlight Fort Wayne as a fantastic sports town. The Hotel Fitness Championship is a fun event for the entire family, and we encourage parents to bring their kids out to the tournament.”

Juniors ages 16 and under are admitted free to the tournament when accompanied by a ticketed adult (two juniors for every ticketed adult).

The Hotel Fitness Championship is one of four Web.com Tour Finals events that will determine the 50 players who earn cards for the 2014-15 PGA TOUR season under the TOUR’s enhanced qualifying system.

Players eligible for the Hotel Fitness Championship include the top-75 money winners on the Web.com Tour at the conclusion of the Regular Season; players who finish 126-200 on the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup points list at the end of the TOUR’s Regular Season; and non-members who earn enough points to place them among 126-200 on the FedExCup points list at the end of the regular season.
