Labyrinth walk for peace – August 20, 2014
(August 17, 2014) – Trinity Episcopal Church, 611 West Berry, will be the site of a labyrinth walk for peace on Wednesday, August 20, at 6 p.m. This is a free event and open to the public. Persons of all faiths are welcome to attend. Please enter through the Wayne Street side of the building.
Those who have never walked a labyrinth will be instructed on how to do so by certified labyrinth facilitators who are members of Trinity Episcopal.
Time will also be made for those wishing to remain afterwards to talk about ideas for other means to help in the peace movement throughout the world.
Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori asked all Episcopal congregations throughout the United States to observe Sunday, August 17 as a day of prayer for those in Iraq and elsewhere in the Middle East living in fear of their lives, livelihoods, and ways of living and believing.
Her call for prayer is in response to violence in Iraq that has included the slaying of Christians, Yazidis, and other Iraqi religious minorities; the destruction and looting of churches, mosques, homes, and places of business; and the displacement of thousands under the threat of death.
