Ms. Ha, the 3rd season Fox Network MasterChef winner is completely blind. She will arrive in Fort Wayne on Saturday, September 6th for her appearance at IPFW’s Rhinehart Music Center/Auer Hall at noon on September 7th.

The fundraiser includes a cook-off of four finalists from a July preliminary contest at Ivy Tech Community College where they competed to get to the September 7th finals by cooking their favorite recipe (with apples being the main ingredient). At the finals on September 7th they will again be required to incorporate apples into their dish. These four “home cooks” will be competing on stage for a $1,000 cash prize.

The four “home cook” finalists are: Kent Castleman- New Haven, Nancy Ake – Fort Wayne (Nancy is blind), Michael Walters – Hoagland, and Dawn Kelley – Fort Wayne.

In addition, professional chefs from our restaurants in the region will also be competing in a separate contest on stage. But, they will be cooking an entree blindfolded.

The judges at the IPFW finale on September 7th are: MasterChef Christine Ha, Steve Gard (owner of the Oyster Bar), Kimberly Dupps-Truesdell (The Journal Gazette), and Laura Wilson, Chef and owner of La Dolce Vita in Roanoke, Indiana. Ms Wilson also writes the column “Drop Dead Culinary” for the News-Sentinel. All four will be on stage at IPFW on September 7th.
