Death Investigations

Male Adult / DeceasedOn Friday, 08/15/2014, at approximately 5:51 PM, a vehicle arrived at the St. Joseph Hospital Emergency entrance and the driver summoned assistance from the hospital staff. The staff determined a male/adult inside the vehicle was in critical condition. The staff moved the victim into the emergency room and began medically treating him. The driver of the vehicle fled the hospital as soon as the victim was moved into the emergency room. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
At approximately 6:13 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 1200 block of Michigan Avenue reference an unconscious male/adult. Police and medics arrived on scene and located the unresponsive victim inside an apartment. Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition. Shortly after arriving at the hospital, the victim was pronounced deceased by a physician.
Detectives are currently interviewing a witness that was inside the apartment on Michigan Avenue where the second victim was located. Preliminary reports indicate the victims were acquaintances of one another. Detectives stated neither victim had any visible signs of a traumatic injury that indicated it contributed to their deaths. At this time, it is unknown if the two deaths are related or if they are criminal in nature.
This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Allen County Coroner’s Office will release the identities of both victims along with the cause and manner of their deaths. There are no additional details regarding this investigation at this time.
