Amoebas, crabs, willow trees, elephants, whales and people all look different on the outside, but inside, each contains billions and billions of molecules that interact in similar ways to carry out common life functions—moving, sensing, defending and reproducing. Likewise, the variety of different molecules found in living things is vast, but these molecules are all based on combinations of only 25 different atoms. The exhibition includes a series of exhibit stations, computer interactive activities, and hands-on models, that invite visitors to explore how and why these different interactions happen by breaking life down into smaller and smaller parts and revealing the similarities and differences among life forms in this world. The exhibition was developed by the New York Hall of Science.
