Game recap from the TinCaps:

TinCaps Top South Bend, 11-6

(July 14, 2014) – Fernando Perez, Franmil Reyes, and Josh Van Meter each collected three base hits to lead a 16-hit attack, as the Fort Wayne TinCaps defeated the South Bend Silver Hawks, 11-6, on Monday night, in a game played in front of 7,475 fans at Parkview Field.

The first of Perez’ hits came in the bottom of the first inning, when he connected on a 3-2 pitch from South Bend starting pitcher Markus Solbach and drove it over the wall in right field for a home run, his seventh of the year, giving Fort Wayne a 1-0 lead.

South Bend (16-8, 56-37) came back to take what would be its only lead of the night in the top of the second inning, when two-out, back-to-back triples from Jamie Westbrook and Michael Perez, coupled with a throwing error by TinCaps center-fielder Ronnie Richardson produced a pair of runs, and a 2-1 lead.

Fort Wayne (7-17, 37-56) would re-take the lead in the bottom of the second inning, as the home team sent nine batters to the plate and scored five times in taking a 6-2 advantage. The key hits were an RBI triple by Richardson and a two-run double off the bat of Fernando Perez.

The Tincaps combined a double by Richardson, a bunt single by Van Meter, and a throwing error by South Bend third baseman Joe Munoz for another run in the sixth inning to go up by a score of 7-2.

The Silver Hawks rallied for three runs in the top of the seventh inning to pull within two at 7-5, but, again, the Fort Wayne bats came alive in the bottom of the seventh. Again, the TinCaps sent nine batters to the plate and scored four more runs on five hits in gaining a 11-5 advantage.

South Bend would score one final run in the ninth inning on Breland Almadova’s sixth home run of the year, coming against TinCap relief pitcher Erik Cabrera.

Jeffery Enloe (1-3) went 6 1/3 innings in picking up his first win of the season for Fort Wayne, while Solbach (0-1) suffered the loss, in his first start in the Midwest League.

Following a day off on Tuesday, the TinCaps begin a three-game series at Quad Cities on Wednesday night, with left-hander Max Fried making his first start of the season against Adrian Houser. The 8:00 p.m. contest can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380 and TinCaps.com.
