Science Central’s historic sign to get new face

News release from Science Central:

Science Central’s historic sign to get new face

(June 19, 2014) – Science Central’s primary sign will soon put on a brand new face to greet the community.

Scheduled for updating on June 25-27, the sign will be freshened and updated by The Baldus Company of Fort Wayne.

“The current sign has been in place in front of Science Central since the building opened in 1995,” said Martin S. Fisher, executive director of the popular science center. “There have been some minor modifications through the years, but it’s time to have Science Central’s name and our new logo at the forefront. Our new sign will accomplish that.”

The sign was originally used for Fort Wayne’s Bicentennial Celebration in 1994, and sat atop the pedestrian bridge between the Grand Wayne Center and the Embassy Theatre. It was moved to Science Central for its opening in 1995, and the ironwork for the base was completed by the Fruchey Company. The sign face was updated at that time. The sign will undergo electrical repair prior to having the face updated. The work will be done during the day on June 25th and 26th. Trucks and lifts will be used to install the new sign face. Science Central Exhibit and Facilities Director Marc Cotter will oversee the installation.
