Power Outage Update

(June 18, 2014 at 9:08 pm) – Strong thunderstorms and high winds moved from the west into the Michigan, South Bend, Elkhart and Fort Wayne and Muncie service areas this afternoon into early evening taking down trees, poles and power lines and causing outages for roughly 10,300 I&M customers.

As of 9:00 p.m., I&M crews have restored power to nearly 7,000 customers.

Number of customers currently without power:

Severe weather can cause power lines to snap or poles to come down. Fallen power lines are dangerous because they carry an electric current that can cause serious or fatal injury. Never touch a fallen wire, no matter how harmless it looks. And keep others away from the potential hazard as well. If you encounter fallen wires, stay away from them and immediately contact Indiana Michigan Power.
