Delta Air Lines adds new flights, first class service to FWA-ATL market

(June 17, 2014) – Officials at the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority are pleased to announce that beginning July 1, 2014 Delta Air Lines will operate its mid-day flight to Atlanta (ATL) from Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) with a 76-seat regional jet offering first class service. In addition to larger aircraft, the carrier will also be adding another daily flight to ATL beginning September 2, 2014, creating ample opportunity for passengers traveling to or through the world’s busiest airport.

“FWA’s flights to Atlanta have operated at or near capacity for some time now and we’re confident this route can support additional seats,” said Scott Hinderman, Executive Director of Airports for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Airport Authority. “We hope travelers will enjoy the added flexibility Delta has given us in Fort Wayne, specifically those loyal fliers who will likely take advantage of first class service.”

Flight 4952 will offer 12 first class seats and 64 economy seats, departing ATL at 10:25 a.m. and arriving to FWA at 12:05 p.m. Return service departs FWA at 12:40 p.m. and arrives to ATL at 2:28 p.m.

The new flight to ATL, flight 5353, will depart FWA at 8 a.m. daily, arriving to ATL at 9:49 a.m. This new service puts FWA’s total flights to ATL at four per day.

This added capacity creates an additional 332 outbound seats per week to Atlanta from Fort Wayne, an increase of 28.9% over September 2013.
