The Phil announces Patriotic Pops at Parkview Field

(May 23, 2014) – No summer is complete without a celebration of the American spirit under a sky of beautiful fireworks. The Fort Wayne Philharmonic is pleased to announce a new and exciting venture to bring the symphonic patriotic celebration to the public. On Thursday July 3rd at 8:00 pm The Phil will present their annual “Patriotic Pops” concert at a new venue, Parkview Field. A fireworks display will commence following the concert. Admission to this event is free to the public.

The concert, conducted by the Philharmonic’s Associate Conductor Sameer Patel, will feature a series of patriotic songs and family favorites, including Gould’s American Salute, marches from John Phillip Sousa, music from the movie Lincoln by John Williams, and the ever-popular 1812 Overture.

Phil president and CEO J.L. Nave said, “We are very excited to bring our annual patriotic concert to Parkview Field. The baseball field makes for a perfect backdrop as we celebrate the birth of our country.”

This concert will conclude The Phil’s 70th season, a season that Music Director Andrew Constantine had specifically programmed to emphasize American composers.

Admission to the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Patriotic Pops is free to the public. Seating for this event is general admission. It is advised to come early for best seating. Concessions will be made available to the public.
