Allen County SPCA joins other rescues for PetSmart Charities Mega Adoption tent event, May 17th & 18th
Allen County SPCA closed this weekend

(May 14, 2014) – If you’ve been considering adopting a new four-legged family member, consider doing so at the PetSmart Charities Adoption Tent Event Weekend, May 17 & 18 12 noon until 4 p.m. only at PetSmart 10260 Maysville Road, Fort Wayne, IN. Save a pet’s life and enrich your own with the pure joy that only a tail wag can bring.

Thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities, this weekend the Allen County SPCA along with the Steuben County Humane Society, Perfect Paws Pet Rescue and Blackford County Humane will be under the big tent in the parking lot of PetSmart on Maysville Road from noon until 4 p.m. on both days. The four shelters have a combined goal of 50 adoptions.

The Allen County SPCA will close its shelter at 4914 S. Hanna Street and will be offering same day adoptions for pre-approved applications at the Tent Event. “Now, many adopters won’t have to wait to take their new pet home,” said shelter director, Jessica Henry. “Some adopters have pre-approved applications on file with us already. We encourage them to come out to PetSmart this weekend, meet with the dogs and cats, and take their animal home the same day.”

Adopters not currently pre-approved can meet with the available animals, and through a streamlined process, may still be approved on-site. Those adopters should bring verification of vaccinations for all current pets, and renters should bring copies of leases which allow for pets. All animals will be adopted on a first come basis. “We are grateful to PetSmart Charities for their commitment to pet adoption. They have been a wonderful partner for these participating shelters, and we appreciate the opportunity to work together to save more lives.”

In addition to the kittens, cats and dogs available for adoption, local food trucks will be in the parking lot.
