A letter from the newly elected Republican nominees for the Huntertown Town Council and Clerk-Treasurer:
Stamets, Garman, Seifert and Mittendorf say Thank You.
We, the newly elected Republican nominees for the Huntertown Town Council and Clerk Treasurer, would like to thank the voters of Huntertown for the confidence you have placed in us. We are humbled by your support and look forward to getting to work on a better Huntertown for all of us.
Each of the four of us is excited about the task at hand of serving the residents, businesses, schools and other people of Huntertown. We worked very hard during our campaigns and plan to work even harder for you, the voters who entrusted us with this important role.
The four of us have our own individual ideas and similar but separate visions for Huntertown, but we are united in the following requests for the current Town Council, Utility Service Board and office of the Clerk/Treasurer:
- We ask the current office holders to slow down and allow the many important decisions facing our town to be made from a newer perspective. There is no need to rush things through in the final months of 2014 and we feel the voters have sent us all a strong signal that we need to reexamine where we are going as a great town. Public safety, annexation, utility challenges, economic development, and roads are important issues and deserve more time, disclosure, discussion and consideration.
- We ask the current office holders to allow us ample access to the information, reports, financial records and other data that we will need to transition most efficiently into our new roles. We also ask that we be able to speak to the staff, the contracted professionals (attorneys, consultants, advisors and lobbyist) and other people that are involved in Huntertown. We want to become more familiar with the current state of affairs and more familiar with the people who dedicate their time and energy to help move Huntertown forward.
We all seek a smooth transition and feel it is in the best interest of Huntertown for us to get started sooner than later. We have worked to prepare ourselves for this position and we have spoken to many of you. We are fully aware of the sense of urgency that is felt throughout Huntertown to put things on a better pathway.
Again, we are thankful for this opportunity to serve the people of Huntertown. Together, we can become a better Huntertown.
Mike Stamets, Dave Garman, Brandon Seifert and Cathy Mittendorf.
