News release from the Allen County SPCA:

Northern Indiana Pet Expo

(April 14, 2014) – The Allen County SPCA will present the Northern Indiana Pet Expo May 3-4 from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., both days, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum. Attendance for the annual event is expected to exceed 4,500 pet lovers and their companion animals.

“This is such a great weekend for area pet owners,” said Jessica Henry, shelter director. “Nowhere else can you find 100 pet-related vendors and services, animal-related education sessions, nationally-recognized canine talent and this much family fun under one roof.” The event is also geared toward people looking to add a pet to their families, as over 25 animal rescues and shelters will attend with their adoptable cats and dogs. “Pure breeds and mixed breeds, young and senior pets will all be available at the Pet Expo,” Henry stated. New this year is the addition of a canine agility park where dog owners can interact with agility experts and practice with the equipment free of charge.

The Allen County SPCA also will be offering $10 microchips to the public. Spayed/neutered and vaccinated cats and dogs in carriers or on standard, non-retractable leashes are welcome to attend.

About the Allen County SPCA
The Allen County SPCA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, has been providing shelter to northeast Indiana’s homeless cats and dogs for over 60 years. Our mission is to promote the prevention of cruelty to animals by providing a safe haven for animals, an effective and comprehensive adoption program, education and outreach programs for the community and deep and broad membership and volunteer programs.

The organization receives animals from area municipal shelters and from individuals unable to care for their pets. Each cat or dog is tested for viruses, vaccinated, spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption.

The shelter is located at 4914 S. Hanna Street and is open Tuesday through Friday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 4:00 p.m. Closed Mondays. Allen County SPCA website.
