Food Bank receives $30,000 from Tower Bank and $4,604 from Tower Bank employees
- Community Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Indiana, Inc. will now be able to further their mission throughout northeast Indiana thanks to multiple generous donations.
- Wendell Bontrager, Old National Region President said, “In solidifying the partnership we wanted to reflect on the legacy of Tower and as we convert to Old National, an institution that has a proven commitment to strengthening the community in which it serves. We couldn’t think of a more reputable and worthy nonprofit organization to make a $30,000 donation to as Community Harvest Food Bank. The food bank has such tremendous impact on our neighbors in need. Tower and Old National share much in common, from our passion for service to our commitment to community engagement.”
- “Our team members have always been active in the community,” states Julie Bobay, Tower Bank’s Facilities Coordinator. “Donating proceeds from various auction items to the Community Harvest Food Bank, was another opportunity for us to help others and continue Tower’s legacy.” Unneeded items from around the bank were collected and a silent auction held where employees submitted bids for items they would like to buy. The event raised $4,604 for the food bank. “Everyone here is excited about how much we were able to raise for charity. We decided that by donating the money to the food bank, we could provide for a large number of local families,” says Julie.
- Jane Avery, Community Harvest’s Executive Director expressed, “Community Harvest deeply appreciates the philanthropic spirit that was hard-wired into the culture at Tower Bank. The beneficiaries of their generous contribution are the thousands of hungry people of northeast Indiana. Community Harvest and those we serve are so thankful and appreciative of this incredibly generous donation from Tower Bank. The contributions will be used to help purchase a generator at our north building so we are able to serve better in the event that bad weather and emergencies impact us.”
