City updates: No garbage collection tomorrow; water main break

News release from the City of Fort Wayne:

Storm update from the City of Fort Wayne

(December 5, 2014) – Because of heavy snow and projected extreme cold temperatures, there will be no Monday collection of garbage and recycling. At this time we are monitoring the storm to determine the adjusted schedule for the remainder of the week.

City trucks continue plowing and salting to battle the latest winter storm. Crews will stay on the main arterial streets as long as it keeps snowing.

Residents are encouraged to clear snow away from fire hydrants to keep them visible and not allow them to get buried by piles of snow.

A water main break has closed Calhoun Street between Petit Avenue and Maple Grove. City Utilities crews are working on the break and water service has been interrupted in the area.
