News release from IPFW:

Event at IPFW Simulates an Impoverished Lifestyle for Participants

(December 9, 2013) – Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will be hosting a poverty simulation with the help of Community Action of Northeast Indiana (CANI) on Dec. 12, 2013, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The purpose of this event is to show attendees what it is like to live in a low-income household. This exercise simulates a month where participants will be required to maintain their homes and provide for their family, while interacting with businesses and members of the community.

Volunteers are needed to play the parts of family members, as well as members of the community. First-time participants are encouraged to sign up for the family member roles, while second-time participants are welcome to sign up for community roles.

The poverty simulation will take place in the Walb Student Union, Room 126 (this is a change from the previous location).
