Festival of Trains rolls into Science Central
For holiday weekend, November 29th to December 1st(November 25, 2013) – Trains of all sizes will roll into Science Central for the popular science center’s 15th annual Festival of Trains, Friday, November 29 through Sunday, December 1. Science Central will be open Friday and Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from noon to 5 pm. Admission is $8 per person, ages 3 to adult. Children 2 and under are admitted free.
Train enthusiasts of all ages are invited to observe model train sets in action, demonstrated by local model train groups, including the Maumee Valley Model Railroad Club and Northeast Indiana N-Scalers. The Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society and the Three Rivers Railroad Heritage Council will also be on board to share historical perspectives of railroad transportation in Fort Wayne.
Operation Lifesaver will educate visitors about train safety, and there will be hands-on fun for the kids as volunteer Dan Moody presents his Train Stop, with a room full of train sets for exploration on Friday and Saturday. A special “Trains around the World” data set will also be on display on the new Science On a Sphere permanent exhibit.
Science Central will also be a stop on the Downtown Improvement District’s Holly Trolley shopping tour of downtown for the holiday weekend. Shoppers will receive a 20% discount off a single-item purchase in the center’s Gift Shop, which is open to the public, on November 30.
