Local blood donors inducted into the Fenwal Donation Hall of Fame
Greg Kitson and Jon Hebble Recognized for an Extraordinary Commitment to Blood Donation(November 20, 2013) – The American Red Cross Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region is proud to announce that two local platelet donors will be inducted into the Donation Hall of Fame, sponsored by Fenwal, Inc. The Donation Hall of Fame recognizes individuals nationwide who have demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to blood donation.
The American Red Cross will team up with Fenwal to induct Jon Hebble and Greg Kitson into the Donation Hall of Fame at a ceremony to be held Tuesday, Nov. 26 at The American Red Cross on 1212 East California Road in Fort Wayne at 3:30 p.m. Hebble and Kitson will be honored for their many contributions to people in need of blood transfusions.
“It’s a fitting tribute to two of our most dedicated donors,” said Sharyn Whitman, CEO for the Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region. “Jon and Greg have selflessly given the gift of life to patients in need and are heroes to our community.”
Kitson has been donating at Indiana Ohio Region-American Red Cross for many years. He has been a blood donor since 1974. Hebble has been a donor at Indiana Ohio Region-American Red Cross for many years, as well, and recently completed his 100th donation of platelets. They are one of 12 inspiring donation stories across the country selected for the Fenwal 2013 Donation Hall of Fame.
Blood centers across the country submitted nominations for this year’s Donation Hall of Fame. Winners were chosen based on their demonstrated commitment and passion to donating blood and/or encouraging blood donation. Each winner will receive a personalized award from Fenwal and will be featured in the company’s 2014 product-dating calendar they provide to U.S. blood centers.
