Commissioners to hold public hearing on Leo-Cedarville sewer rate ordinance

News release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:

Commissioners to Hold Public Hearing on Leo-Cedarville Sewer Rate Ordinance
Hearing set for Nov. 18 at Metea County Park

(November 7, 2013) — The Allen County Board of Commissioners today announced a date and location for a public hearing on a petition objecting to a new rate ordinance adopted last month by the Leo-Cedarville Regional Sewer District. The hearing is scheduled for Monday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. at Metea County Park, 8401 Union Chapel Road.

The hearing is a requirement of the state statute governing rates and charges for regional water, sewer and solid waste districts (IC 13-26-11). It must occur between 10 and 20 days after the date of the filing of the petition objecting to the rate ordinance. Those opposing the ordinance filed their petition on November 1, 2013.

All ratepayers within the Leo-Cedarville Regional Sewer District are entitled to be heard at the public hearing. It will then be up to the Board of Commissioners to make its decision based on findings as required by state law. No action is expected to be taken immediately following the conclusion of the hearing.

Anyone unable to attend the hearing but wanting to be heard may send written comments to the Allen County Board of Commissioners, 200 East Berry St., Suite 410, Fort Wayne, IN 46802, or by email to commissioner@allencounty.us before 5:00 p.m. on November 15, 2013.
