Motorists Urged To Use Caution As Schools Will Soon Be Back In Session

(August 8, 2013) – The Fort Wayne Police Department would like to remind area motorist that local schools systems will be back in session starting next week which means a large number of school buses and school aged children navigating our streets to and from school.

As the school buses fan out each morning and afternoons motorist can expect delays in their commute as buses make their stops on both major and secondary roadways picking up and droping off students.

Motorists are warned of the severity of disregarding a school bus stop arm and school speed zones. Penalties change range from hundreds of dollars in fines and can result in up to 60-days of incarceration.

Officers will be patrolling to ensure that these laws are being obeyed.
