“Transitions: What Does it Mean to be Transgendered?”
(July 17, 2013) – On Wednesday, July 24, YWCA Northeast Indiana will be hosting a discussion about transgendered persons and the transitions that they go through.
This discussion will be led by Dr. Jeannie D. DiClementi, a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology and IPFW. Dr. DiClementi has expertise in working with culturally diverse populations, particularly the LGBT community. She started the first center for LGBTQ students at IPFW (The Resource Center) and currently serves as its director.
Our conversation will begin with a brief history of transgender, before moving into the transitions the transgender person faces, including difficulties in dealing with family, the workplace, school, bathrooms, locker rooms, etc.
Come explore this topic more with us in this installment of the Diversity Dialogue series on Wednesday, July 24, from noon to 1:30 pm at YWCA Northeast Indiana’s 1610 Spy Run Avenue office. - September: “Community Response to Returning Veterans”
- October: “Guns and Intimate Partner Violence: Is There a Connection?”
There will be no Diversity Dialogues taking place in November or December.
