Fourth of July Crowd Sets Parkview Field Attendance Record

A record-setting crowd of 8,780 fans watched the Fort Wayne TinCaps take on the South Bend Silver Hawks Thursday, July 4th, at Parkview Field. The attendance marks the largest crowd in the five-year history of the stadium, and it is the second time the attendance record has been broken this season.

“What a wonderful way to mark the holiday,” stated TinCaps Vice President, Michael Limmer. “There isn’t anything more patriotic than baseball, apple pie, hot dogs, July 4th, and fireworks. It’s the perfect combination for an outstanding night at Parkview Field.”

Prior to this season, the largest crowd in the history of the ballpark was 8,577 fans, which was the tally on Opening Night 2012. That mark was topped on June 20th, 2013, when 8,643 fans watched the TinCaps-Silver Hawks tilt.

Tickets are still available for the remaining four games in the team’s homestand. Both Friday and Saturday nights games will feature post-game fireworks. Fans can purchase tickets in person at the Parkview Field ticket office, online at TinCaps.com, or by calling 260-482-6400.
