News release from Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation:

Jennings Center’s Teenage Sunday Celebration

(May 31, 2013) – Jennings Recreation Center will celebrate its 55th Teenage Sunday on June 2 with the theme “It’s All About Our Youth.” The public is invited for refreshments at 3 pm, and for Fort Wayne youth performances 4 – 7 pm. Guest speakers will be former scholarship recipients Samantha Hudson and Matthew Griffin.

For decades, the community has supported the Albert G. Jennings Scholarship fund to assist neighborhood youth in their pursuit of a college degree. Scholarships are awarded each year during the prestigious Teenage Sunday.

The Albert G. Jennings Scholarship program has helped the college careers of many area African-Americans, including Dr. Sharon Banks, former educator at Fort Wayne Community Schools, and Mr. Jonathon Ray, CEO of Fort Wayne’s Urban League.
