European Foreign Investors Continue to Express Interest in Northeast Indiana

(May 30, 2013) – Foreign investors in Europe continue to show interest in expanding their businesses in Northeast Indiana. That’s what Dale Buuck, Vice President of Business Development at the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership, found out on a recent 12-day trip to the UK, Germany and Italy. While there, Buuck met with company executives from the steel processing, automotive OEM and parts supply industries along with consultants who specialize in assisting foreign companies move to the U.S. The goal of the visit was to promote Northeast Indiana and generate interest in companies locating their business in the region.

“Northern Italy is the heart of advancing manufacturing for that country, and the interest expressed for the American market was very strong. Several companies I met with are planning trips to the Midwest and plan on visiting Northeast Indiana,” said Buuck. “Investors realize that Northeast Indiana is a great opportunity for them to enter or expand their U.S. operations given its location to Midwest markets and the very good state of the Indiana economy.”

The Partnership worked with the State Department’s London office for several meetings, and Buuck participated in the British American Business Council’s annual transatlantic conference held in Birmingham, UK.

The trip concentrated efforts on generating new business in the Partnership’s 10-county region, which is comprised of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben, Wabash, Wells and Whitley counties.
