Domestic Battery / Fatal Shooting Investigation

Incident Time: 10:23 PM

Incident Location: 5000 Wisteria Ln.

Victim: Male Adult / Deceased

(May 29, 2013) – On Wednesday, 05/29/2013, at approximately 10:23 PM, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 5000 block of Wisteria Lane reference a domestic battery in progress. Initial information indicated two family members were actively involved in a physical altercation. While officers were responding to the scene, dispatch advised one of the family members involved in the altercation obtained a firearm and shot the other family member.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male subject suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Paramedics arrived and pronounced the male subject deceased. The other family member involved in the altercation was transported by paramedics to a local hospital for injuries received as a result of the physical altercation.

Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for evidence. The Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s office will determine if criminal charges are warranted. The Allen County Coroner’s office will release the deceased identity along with the cause and manner of death.

This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s office.
