Fort Wayne’s Great American Cleanup is Saturday

(May 17, 2013) – Nearly 5000 volunteers are signed-up to spruce-up the City of Fort Wayne at the Great American Cleanup on Saturday May 18, 2013. They represent churches, youth groups, schools, businesses, neighborhood associations, and families.

Clean-up efforts this year will focus on neighborhoods, vacant lots, trails and greenways, streets and roads, and our rivers.

Last year, Fort Wayne volunteers collected nearly 190,000 pounds of debris during the event.

A wrap-up party will take place from 11:30am-2:00pm at the Headwaters Park West Pavilion. Mayor Tom Henry will thank volunteers around noon.

The Great American Cleanup is the country’s largest beautification and community improvement effort. Nationwide, there were more than four million volunteers last year.
