News release from the TinCaps:
TinCaps announce roster moves: May 10th
(May 10, 2013) – The Fort Wayne TinCaps, in conjunction with the San Diego Padres, announced the following roster moves today:
RHP John Hussey transferred from Fort Wayne to Advanced-A Lake Elsinore.
RHP Bryan Rodriguez transferred from extended spring training to Fort Wayne.
Hussey, 26, is scheduled to start tonight for the Lake Elsinore Storm, which will mark his first appearance above the Low-A level since signing as a non-drafted free agent in 2004. With the TinCaps this season, Hussey, who pitched exclusively in relief in six appearances, went 2-0 with a 1.59 Era. In 17 innings, he allowed 12 hits, three earned runs, walked two and struck out nine.
Rodriguez, 21, was originally signed by the Padres as a non-drafted free agent on April 19, 2010. The native of San Pedro de Macoris, Dominican Republic, spent 2010 with the DSL Padres and did not pitch due to a right elbow sprain in 2011. Last season, he went 3-4 with a 6.46 ERA (33 ER in 46 IP) in 13 games between the Arizona League Padres and the Short-Season Eugene Emeralds of the Northwest League. Rodriguez has never pitched with Fort Wayne.
This move places the TinCaps at the Midwest League roster limit of 25 players.
