Public invited to kitten shower at Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control

(May 2, 2013) – Each spring Fort Wayne Animal Care & Control is filled to over-flowing with a multitude of kittens. Long-haired or short, athletic and cuddly, these many-colored little charmers have one thing in common. They are all desperately in need of permanent, safe and loving homes.

To help prepare these many baby kittens for what lies ahead, Animal Care & Control will hold a Kitten Shower on Saturday, May 18 from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come to the shelter for refreshments, fun and games and to bring kitten gifts. The shelter is located at 3020 Hillegas Road.

Many kittens given to the shelter will be sent to foster homes until they are of proper weight and age to be returned for adoption. Kitten Shower gifts will help these kittens become strong and healthy while they await their forever homes.

Animal Care & Control is registered at any store that carries canned food designed for kittens, scoopable cat litter, plain canned pumpkin, and Gerber turkey baby food. The shelter also needs 5 quart Tupperware or Rubbermaid containers with lids and plenty of toys for kittens.

Spring through fall, a wide array of cats and kittens await those interested in adopting. Thanks to a generous grant, the adoption fee for cats over six months is $10 and kittens under 6 months is $40. The adoption fee includes spay or neuter surgery, first vaccination, microchip and local veterinary clinics donate a wellness checkup.
