Hospital Employees Join Vera Bradley Volunteers to Turn the Town Pink
Lutheran Health Network-sponsored campaign observed in May

(May 1, 2013) – Volunteers from the Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer will join team members of Dupont and Lutheran hospitals Wednesday, May 8, to place 150 pink ribbons at each location in support of this year’s “Turn the Town Pink” campaign.

Turn the Town Pink is an annual effort to raise awareness and funds to help combat breast cancer through research. Lutheran Health Network has participated as the primary Turn the Town Pink campaign sponsor every year since 2008, a commitment it made after nearly a decade of sponsoring the Vera Bradley Classic.

A ceremony to recognize the 2013 campaign will happen Friday, May 10, at One Summit Square in downtown Fort Wayne. Breast cancer survivors, Lutheran Hospital CEO Brian Bauer, Vera Bradley Foundation for Breast Cancer volunteers and other special guests will be on hand to receive an official proclamation from Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry. The public is invited to attend the brief event that begins at noon.

In addition to placing pink ribbons adorned with the names of honorees all around town, numerous activities will take place throughout the month leading up to the 20th annual Vera Bradley Classic Women’s Golf and Tennis Tournament, May 31-June 4.
