Statehouse ceremony to remember workers killed on the job

171 workers killed on the job in 2012 to be remembered at Statehouse ceremony Monday
Event a part of international recognition of Workers Memorial Day

(April 26, 2013) INDIANAPOLIS – Working Hoosiers along with victims’ families will come together MONDAY MORNING to honor the memories of 171 workers who were killed on the job in Indiana in 2012.

The annual Workers’ Memorial Day ceremony will be held Monday, April 29, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. on the grounds of the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis. Governor Mike Pence, Indiana AFL-CIO President Nancy Guyott and other state and local community leaders are expected to attend.

The service is one of hundreds held around the world as working families and union members commemorate sisters and brothers who have died on the job.

In conjunction with the ceremonies, the national AFL-CIO will release its annual report on the status of worker health and safety protections along with a state-by-state analysis.

WHERE: Workers Memorial Monument at the Indiana State Government Complex (corner of West Street and Government Place), Indianapolis, Ind.

**in case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside the Statehouse
