Fatal Shooting Investigation
Incident Date/Time: April 3, 2013 / 12:32
Incident Location: 900 Hugh Street
Victim: Male, age 17; deceased.(April 3, 2013) – On Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at approximately 12:32 pm, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 900 block of Hugh Street in response to a fatal shooting investigation. Several calls were received about shots being fired in the area and a call about a person being shot. Officers located the shooting victim, a juvenile male, outside in the rear of a home in the 900 block of Hugh Street. He was suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s), and was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders. The victim’s identity to be confirmed and released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death of the victim to be determined and released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office also.
Witnesses reported seeing multiple people fleeing the area. A Canine Unit assisted in the investigation and attempted a track which terminated nearby. At this time, detectives are speaking with witnesses, and Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for evidence. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
The incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, and the Allen County Coroner’s Officer. There is nothing further at this time.
