About the Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission
The Human Relations Commission was established in 1952 as a mayoral commission to study and address discrimination issues within the city. Over the years the City’s local ordinance expanded the Commission’s role to include enforcement of anti-discrimination laws, as well as to educate and empower the citizens of Fort Wayne.

Fort Wayne Metropolitan Human Relations Commission, the local civil rights law enforcement agency, is empowered to investigate and enforce allegations of discrimination in employment, housing practices, public accommodation and education in the Fort Wayne Metropolitan area, in partnership with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and the Department of Justice (DOJ).
