Lucky Duck Children’s Consignment Sale Helps Families Save Money

(February 18, 2013) – The spring/summer Lucky Duck Children’s Consignment Sale will be held March 21-23, 2013 at Dupont Downs, 538 E. Dupont Rd., behind the Dupont Library.

The Lucky Duck is a shopping event. Individuals consign their gently used, high end brands of children’s clothing, shoes, furniture, toys, books, bikes, and everything in between. Maternity items are also accepted.

Admission is FREE. Sale hours are 9 a.m. – 7 p.m Friday, March 22. And 8am-1pm Saturday, March 23 Many items are marked half price on Saturday. Cash and credit cards are accepted.

For customers wanting to shop before the general public, pre-sale shopping takes place on Thursday, March 21st from 7:00pm-9:00pm. This ticket can be purchased at the door for $10, with 100% of door money collected going to non-profit OPEN DOOR HAITI. (https://opendoorhaiti.org/)

Consignment is increasingly popular in this economy as families find kids growing out of clothing and equipment quickly, and also desire to be “green” by recycling gently-used gear.

Individuals interested in selling items can register at www.luckyduckfortwayne.com. Using the online bar-coding system on the website, consignors price their items then print tags from their home computers. Consignors drop their items off the week of the sale, and sale staff will set up and organize the sale into one large shopping experience.

“The amazing thing about this sale is that consignors set their own prices. They know what they want for an item, so they set their prices accordingly,” says Lucky Duck sale coordinator, Karen Brandt. “What also sets us apart is that everything is bar coded and computerized. This makes it nice for consignors to go on line at any time during the sale to see what items they have sold and how much money they have made.”

Consignors earn 60 percent of their total sales, and the opportunity to receive up to 75 percent by volunteering to work a shift at the sale, or referring a friend to consign. Consignors and volunteers receive passes to shop the private pre-sale Thursday, March 21st. Unsold items can be donated to our charity partner: True Vine Ministry at Pathway Community Church, or can be picked up by the consignor at the end of the sale.

Brandt enjoys being able to provide local families a, “fun, fashionable and clean bargain-hunting experience. We are NOT a garage sale – expect upscale finds.”
