Women’s Health Link Opens Its Doors to Help Area Women
Organization Will Help Women Get the Care They Need

(January 21, 2013) – Today, a new women’s health resource opened its doors to serve Fort Wayne-area women. Women’s Health Link is a free referral service that will assist women with physical, mental, spiritual and emotional health needs.

The idea for Women’s Health Link originated with elected officials, health providers and concerned citizens. They proposed a resource that would guide women to appropriate service providers in Fort Wayne. Julie Perkins, social worker and Executive Director of Women’s Health Link, will use her education and experience to help women access and receive the care they need.

“We want women to know that Women’s Health Link is here for them,” said Julie Perkins, Executive Director of Women’s Health Link. “I look forward to applying my experience as a social worker to this new resource. I believe we will fill a unique role in the community by connecting women with the care they need and helping them navigate the all-to-often confusing process of securing health services.”

“As the tagline for Women’s Health Link says, ‘You’re Not Alone,'” stated Marianne Stroud, C.N.M., Chairwoman of the Women’s Health Link Steering Committee. “We are here to ensure women obtain access to the health system. We are forming relationships with health providers in Fort Wayne and that network will benefit women in need.”

The first day of Women’s Health Link included a ribbon cutting ceremony. Participants were Senate President Pro Tempore David Long; Fort Wayne mayor, the Honorable Tom Henry; Dr. Geoffrey Cly, OB/GYN; Julie Perkins, Executive Director of Women’s Health Link; and Marianne Stroud, Chairwoman of Women’s Health Link Steering Committee.

Women can contact Women’s Health Link by calling 260- 203-2365 or visiting 2126 Inwood Dr., Fort Wayne, Ind. More information is also available at www.womenshealthlink.org.

Health practitioners are encouraged to contact Women’s Health Link to collaborate with the organization so that women’s needs in Fort Wayne are met more efficiently.

Opened in 2013, Women’s Health Link closes the gap between women in need and health care providers. With support from The Mary Cross Tippmann Foundation and Three Rivers Educational Trust Fund, Women’s Health Link wants to make sure every woman knows she is cared for and health care is available to meet her needs.

The Women’s Health Link steering committee is Marianne Stroud, C.N.M. (Chairwoman); Ann Gray (Secretary); Dr. Geoffrey Cly; Dr. Phillip Tyndall; Dr. Marvin Eastlund; Susan Reusser, LCSW; Cathie Humbarger; Cindy Black; Cindy Perugini, CPA; and Rev. David Misner.
