News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:
Officer Involved Shooting
Date/Time of Incident: 02-20-2013 2:27 AM
Location of Incident: 1900 Hobson Road
Victim: Male
At approximately 2:27 AM, officers were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy located at 2802 E State Street in reference to an armed robbery investigation. As officers arrived on the scene, they observed an individual matching the description of the suspect running southbound from the business. Officers pursued the individual as he ran into an apartment building located in the 1900 block of Hobson Road. While inside the apartment building, officers observed the subject to be armed with a weapon as shots were fired by officers. Paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the male deceased. The name of the victim is being withheld pending family notification and will be released at a later time by the Allen County Coroners Office.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Prosecutors Office, and Allen County Coroners Office.
