Community Input Moves Forward on State Boulevard
Citizen Dialogue Focuses on Project Design(February 18, 2013) – Focused on building a street that will improve flood control, traffic flow and pedestrian and motorist safety, while preserving the historic aspects of neighborhood streets, the Division of Public Works today announced a series of Open House opportunities for residents to view and make suggestions to the final design of the State Boulevard Project. The project parameters are on State Boulevard between Cass Street and Spy Run Avenue.
Preliminary designs are rendered so that residents can have a better idea of what the street could look like. These designs came from citizen input, conveyed at numerous meetings over the past four years. Again, these are preliminary, not final, renderings.
Over the next few weeks, the Division of Public Works will take input from residents at three Open House sessions. An Open House is an opportunity for residents to examine preliminary designs, talk to staff members about the project, and make suggestions for incorporation in the final plans. Residents can drop by anytime during the two-hour Open House. The renderings and sketches will be displayed throughout the room, giving residents the opportunity to get a closer look.

An interdisciplinary team comprised of four members of City Council, neighborhood residents and City staff members will review community input from these Open House sessions. The team will make suggestions for incorporation to the project to the Division of Public Works.
The final plans will be submitted at a public meeting.
