Community Harvest Benefit Gala

It will be festive attire and pearls at the Community Harvest Food Bank Gala on Saturday, March 9. The food bank will commemorate 30 years of service during its annual benefit at the Hotel Fort Wayne Ballroom (formerly the Fort Wayne Marriott) beginning at 5:30pm. Pearls are the traditional symbol of the 30th anniversary and that is the theme of this elegant occasion which will feature fine dining, a signature cocktail and special wine selections, presentation of the “2013 Charles B. Fine Friend of the Food Bank Award”, with live and silent auctions featuring some extraordinary trips, jewelry, gift baskets, autographed sports memorabilia, event tickets, and much more. New this year is a causal auction preview for those who would like to stop by and review the items up for bid the night before while the room is being set up on Friday, March 8 from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. in the Ballroom. There is no charge for the preview and for those who wish to bid on items, but are unable to attend the Gala, they can make arrangements for their proxy bids to be placed on Friday night at the preview or by calling 260/447-3696 x 322.

The event kicks off a year of activities that commemorate 30 years of feeding hungry people in northeast Indiana. “We have spent three decades fulfilling our mission which states that we seek to alleviate hunger through the full use of donated food and other resources,” said Jane Avery, Community Harvest, executive director. “What better way to mark that milestone than to throw a beautiful party to help raise funds for the next 30 years!”

Community Harvest Gala tickets are $175 per person. Tables of eight and ten are available for groups. Corporate sponsorships are also available which include complimentary tickets and recognition. To date sponsors of the event include the following: AEP; Parkview Physicians Group; BKD, LLP; NIPSCO; Salin Bank; Shambaugh, Kast, Beck and Williams; Walmart; and PHP.
