Attempted Bank Robbery Investigation

Location: 3810 Coldwater Road
Victim: Chase Bank

On Friday, December 21, 2012 at approximately 3:19 pm the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to CHASE Bank at 3810 Coldwater Road reference a report of a bank robbery. Witnessess reported that a male subject entered the bank, approached a teller and presented a note that demanded money. Unable to obtain any money, the perpetrator fled the scene on foot. He reportedly fled on foot northbound from the bank. There were bank customers present when the incident ocurred. No weapons were observed, and there were no injuries reported at the scene. A canine unit tracked north from the bank, through a nearby mobile home park, and terminated at the north end of the mobile home park.




Crime Scene Technicians are processing the scene for potential evidence, and detectives continue to interview witnesses at this time. Detectives are releasing surveillance images of the suspect in the hopes that someone will recognize him. Anyone knowing the identity or whereabouts of this robbery suspect is asked to contact police at (260) 427-1222, or Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP (7867) where a cash reward is possible for information received.

This incident remains under investigation by the Northeast Indiana Bank Robbery Task Force. This task force is composed of investigators with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, Allen County Sheriff Department, Indiana State Police, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
