Howard Returns to Mad Ants

(October 11, 2012) – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants announced today that they have signed their all-time leading scorer, Ron Howard, for the 2012-13 season.

“Ron is a tremendous asset to this team; he’s a veteran in our league, is incredibly quick, and has the ability to score from anywhere on the court,” said Mad Ants Head Coach, Duane Ticknor. “I have high expectations for him this season.”

Howard averaged 17.5 points and 4.1 rebounds over 31 games last season. He recorded a season high 32 points against the Reno Bighorns on 1/4/12. Nicknamed “Mr. Mad Ant,” Howard has played for the Mad Ants since their 2007-08 inaugural season. He has played in 168 games as a Mad Ant, averaging 16.3 points and 3.9 rebounds over five seasons.

Mad Ants President, Jeff Potter, added, “We are very excited to announce that Ron will, once again, be donning a Mad Ants jersey. He is not only a great player, he’s a great person and a wonderful role model for young people in Fort Wayne. I’m proud that Ron has become the face of the Mad Ants organization.”

Ron and his wife, Reesha, reside in Fort Wayne with their two daughters, Chloe and Peyton. They run Game Day Sports Camp, a summer camp for local children grades K-8.

The Mad Ants will tip-off their 2012-13 season against the Erie Bayhawks on Friday, November 23rd at 7:30pm at the Memorial Coliseum. Season tickets for the 2012-2013 season are on sale now and start at just $99! For ticket information call 260-469-4667.
