Stutzman: Hoosiers can’t afford Washington’s failures

News release from Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s office (R-IN 3rd):

Stutzman: Hoosiers Can’t Afford Washington’s Failures
Congressional Budget Office Announces Deficit of $1.1 Trillion for FY12

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressman Marlin Stutzman (IN-03), a member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement after the Congressional Budget Office estimated that the federal budget deficit for the fiscal year was $1.1 trillion.

“President Obama promised to cut the deficit in half. After four straight years of deficits above $1 trillion, it’s clear that the President has lost all credibility when it comes to paying down this country’s debt,” said Stutzman. “The House has passed a responsible budget to address the real drivers of the national debt. We’ve made difficult choices and spoken plainly with taxpayers. Unfortunately, the White House has consistently failed to put forward a serious budget and only repeats its calls for higher taxes, top-down regulations, and frantic deficit spending. Families are struggling in the real economy and entrepreneurs are looking for confidence. Today’s announcement is another reminder that Hoosiers can’t afford Washington’s failures.”

Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. Indiana’s 3rd District contains all of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties, as well as parts of Allen and Elkhart counties.
