News release from the Fort Wayne Police Department:

Barricade Investigation

Date / Time: September 17, 2012 / 9:14 am
Location: 500 E. Pettit Avenue

Arrested: Michael M. Edmondson, age 33, Fort Wayne
Charge: Residential Entry Class D-Felony

On Monday, September 17, 2012 at approximately 9:14 am, the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to a home in the 500 block of E. Pettit Avenue reference a barricade investigation involving an adult male, later identified as Michael M. Edmondson. Edmondson had previously lived at the home several months prior. However, he was unknown to the current occupants. This was the second time that Edmondson had arrived at the home seeking to gain access, reportedly to retrieve personal items. On this second attempt, Edmondson gained access to the home and he locked himself inside and was refusing to leave. There were two teenagers inside the home when Edmondson made entry and they were able to flee the home to safety. Edmondson refused any communication with the officers at the scene.

The Emergency Services Team (E.S.T.) and the Crisis Response Team (C.R.T.) were summoned to the scene to assist in the investigation. Shortly before noon, in an attempt to once again initiate contact with Edmondson, he surrendered to the E.S.T. and was taken into custody at that time without incident. There were no injuries reported at the scene.

Edmondson was later transported to the Allen County Jail on a felony charge of Residential Entry. This incident remains under investigation by the City of Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
