Death Investigation

Location: 1500 Bayer Avenue
Victim: Male, age 62
On Sunday, September 2, 2012, at approximately 1:52 pm the City of Fort Wayne Police Department responded to an apartment-home in the 1500 block of Bayer Avenue reference a death investigation. The resident of this apartment unit, a sixty-two year old male, was discovered deceased by the resident of a neighboring unit who reported going to check on the neighbor since they had not seen the victim in the prior two days.
The exact cause and manner of death were not immediately apparent at the scene and so the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Crime Scene and Homicide Teams were called upon to assist in the investigation, which is standard protocol when such cirumstances exist. The Allen County Coroner will determine the exact cause and manner of death of the victim, and will confirm and release the identity of the victim.
Officers, detectives, and crime scene technicians remain in the 1500 block of Bayer Avenue at this time processing the scene, and detectives. There is nothing further at this time.
This incident remains under investigation with the City of Fort Wayne Police Department, the Allen County Coroner’s Office, and the Allen County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
